Our Ceremony

Our Wedding Ceremony will be held at the Saint Patrick's Basilica on September 3rd, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. therefore we would kindly like to ask our guests to arrive at least 10-15 minutes early as the Bridal Procession will begin at 2:00 p.m. sharp.

For information about the Basilica address, parking and other logistical information, please visit the Ceremony Information page in the Guest Info section.

Please check back this section after our Wedding, at which point we will post some pictures and share some stories. For now we included the structure of our ceremony based on the Catholic rituals.

About the Ceremony

Our Wedding Ceremony will be based on a Catholic ritual. The ceremony itself will last about an hour and will have the following structure:

Bridal Procession

During the Bridal Procession, our family will be walked in, followed by the Bridesmaids, Flower Girl and the Ring Bearer. At the end of the Bridal Procession, the Bride will walk down the aisle.

Introductory Rites

This is the introduction to the mass where the priest begins with a welcome after which people recite the Penitential Rite, followed by an Opening Prayer.

Liturgy of the Word

The Liturgy of the Word consists of a First Reading from the Old Testament, followed by a Responsorial Psalm and then a Second Reading from the New Testament. The reading will be read by the members of our Wedding Party.

Gospel Acclamation

The Gospel Acclimation is sung after the 2nd reading as the priest is preparing to read the gospel. It is commonly referred to as the "Alleluia".

Gospel

During this time, the priest will read the Gospel. A gospel is an account that describes the life of Jesus of Nazareth.

Homily

A homily is a commentary that follows a reading of the Gospel. During this time the priest will share advice with the newlyweds.

Liturgy of the Sacrament

During the Liturgy of the Sacrament, Konrad and Marina will be married. First they respond to Statement of Intentions after which they will give their consent to their marriage. After the consent, the rings are blessed by the priest and then exchanged by Konrad and Marina.

Liturgy of the Eucharist

The Liturgy of the Eucharist consists of the Offertory Procession, Preparation of the Gifts, Eucharistic Prayer, The Lord's Prayer, Nuptial Blessing, Sign of Peace and Breaking of the Bread.

After, the Eucharist (Holy Communion) will be offered to the Catholic guests. Please note that the Eucharist (Holy Communion) can only be served to a person of the Roman Catholic faith, therefore we would like to ask others to remain in their seats during this time.

The offering of the Eucharist is then followed by silent prayer and meditation

Signing of the Register

At the end of the mass, Konrad and Marina will sign the register along with their Witnesses.
