Our Reception

Our Reception will be held at the Baldachin Inn Ballroom on September 3rd, 2011 at 5:00 p.m.. The Baldachin Inn, a circa 1860 Heritage designated building, is located at the very heart of Merrickville, a picturesque village which officially has been dubbed as Canada's Most Beautiful Village.

We fell in love with this venue the first time we saw it at a Wedding of our dear friends Michal and Irena. This place offers an amazing atmosphere and a lot of flexibility. We hope our guests will enjoy this place as much as we enjoyed it the first time we went there.

For information about the Ballroom address, parking and other logistical information, please visit the Reception Information page in the Guest Info section.

Please check back this section after our Wedding, at which point we will post some pictures and share some stories.

Quick Fact about a Polish/Russian Tradition

In the Polish and Russian tradition, to make the Bride and the Groom kiss, the crowd has to yell either "Gorzko" or "Gorko" (Polish or Russian respectively). After the kiss, the guests (especially the ones yelling "Gorzko" or "Gorko") generally take a shot of vodka.

Both of these words directly translate as "bitter". Although this may seem a strange thing to say to have the Bride and the Groom kiss, the reasoning behind it is, because the vodka is bitter, they need a kiss to make it sweeter.
